Resilience

Concrete roads are exceptionally durable: They have an expected life of 30 to 40 years. Their tremendous compressive strength prevents the formation of wheel ruts or similar irregularities even when used by a high percentage of heavy traffic. Concrete is a highly economical pavement material in particular for motorways or airport runways that are subject to extreme loads.

Random variants of profils

Concrete is suitable for producing nearly any given profile. Modern construction materials additionally enable coloured concrete slabs or profiles to be paved on, for example, bicycle paths.

Versatility

Some of the slipform paver models from Wirtgen are highly versatile machines. They are used for paving a concrete slab today, can produce a traffic parapet tomorrow, and can also be used for paving track profiles for modern high-speed trains.

Dual-layer concrete paving

The large slipform paver models from Wirtgen are capable of dual-layer concrete paving. This highly cost-efficient method for the construction of trunk roads permits a second layer of high quality to be paved on top of the bottom layer in a so-called "wet-in-wet" application.

Environmental friendliness

Wirtgen slipform pavers are highly environmentally friendly machines for a number of reasons:

• They comply with exhaust emission standards stipulated by both the EU and the EPA.
• They can be operated with organic hydraulic fluid.
• The electrically driven vibrators have extremely low energy requirements.
• The concept of electrical vibrators enables the slipform paver to be equipped with a smaller engine, which uses less fuel and is therefore environmentally friendly. This design also cuts operating costs for the machine user.

Safety

Wirtgen slipform pavers provide a high degree of operational safety, because they comply with CE requirements. Their comprehensive electrical installation complies with VDE standards (VDE is the German Association for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies).
