Surface Miner 2200 SM

Surface miner with mechanically driven cutting drum for mining coal and useful minerals with unconfined compressive strengths of up to 50 MPa. The miner can optionally be equipped for loading the mined material via a front-loading conveyor system with slewing and height-adjustable discharge conveyor or for working in windrowing mode.

High quality turns economical with Wirtgen cutting technology

Different cutting drums and toolholder systems are available for the surface miner 2200 SM. Our delivery range additionally includes a large choice of mining tools, enabling you to find precisely the right tool for completing your projects profitably and in top quality.

Mature toolholder systems for the surface miner 2200 SM

HT6

The holders of the HT6 toolholder system are rigidly welded onto the drum body. The cutting tools rotate freely in the holders during the cutting operation. They can be replaced quickly and easily after removal of the locking ring. This heavy-duty toolholder system has been designed for the tremendous peak loads that may occur when cutting irregular rock formations.

HT13

The toolholders of the HT13 system can be positioned on prepared retainers on the milling drum. They accommodate picks with a shaft diameter of 25 mm.

HT14

In addition to the tried and tested HT6 and HT13 toolholder systems, the new heavy-duty HT14 toolholder system has been developed. The HT14 system is useful in applications where high hourly production rates are achieved, high annual mining capacities are realized, and hard, highly abrasive material needs to be mined. The holders of the HT14 toolholder system are rigidly welded onto the drum body in order to resist the tremendous peak loads when cutting irregular rock formations. The system has 42 mm pick bores and an increased outer diameter as wear cladding.

Please consult our website Parts and More for additional information on these and any other Wirtgen toolholder systems.

Wirtgen point-attack cutting tools - Top performance in each single tool

Using cutting tools of superior quality, which are specially adapted to both the operation and the machine, top production rates at low tool wear and tear can be achieved. The tips of point-attack tools are subject to tremendous loads, and are therefore made from particularly wear-resistant carbide metal.

  • Pick diameter = 38/30 mm
The steel body enclosing the tool tip is divided into two zones: The tool head is particularly hard and highly wear-resistant, while the shaft is tougher and more break-resistant. Their special shape, materials used and different degrees of hardness enable the cutting tools to absorb the shear stresses and impact loads acting on them. A locking ring ensures the defined pick seating in the tool holder.

  • Pick diameter = 42 mm
The yearlong experiences gained in the road building sector while developing the 42 mm pick series are now also being used in the mining sector. The R-sleeve ensures reliable pick holding in the toolholder. At the same time, installing and removing the cutting tool has been made much easier. A wear plate additionally protects the upper part of the toolholder from premature wear and tear. The clamping sleeve ensures optimum tool rotation, precise positioning, and a firm hold of the tool in the toolholder.
