Mature toolholder systems
guarantee maximum milling performance

Most milling drums in Wirtgen machines are fitted with one of our highly economical quick-change toolholder systems. These consist of a bottom part that is rigidly welded onto the drum body and an upper part that is fastened to the bottom part by a retaining bolt. The upper parts accommodate cutting tools which rotate freely in the tool shaft during the milling operation.

HT11

Quick-change toolholder systems consist of a bottom part that is rigidly welded onto the drum body and an upper part fastened to the bottom part by a retaining bolt. The upper parts accommodate cutting tools that rotate freely in the tool shaft during the milling operation.

Hallmarks of the HT11 quick-change toolholder system include:

  • Optimum cutting tool rotation
  • Additional cooling of the tools due to the toolholder shape
  • Fast and simple tool extraction
  • Extremely low wear and tear
  • Wear markers for monitoring the state of wear of the upper parts
  • Large retaining bolts to ensure a perfect fit of the tools in the toolholders

Please consult Parts and More for additional information on these and any other Wirtgen toolholder systems.

Wirtgen point-attack cutting tools -
Top performance in each single tool

The cutting tool tips are subject to tremendous loads during the milling operation, which is why they are made from particularly wear-resistant carbide metal. Tool tips are available in different shapes and sizes for milling different types of material.

The steel body enclosing the tool tip shows different degrees of hardness in the tool head and shaft. Their special shape, materials used and different degrees of hardness enable the cutting tools to absorb the shear stresses and impact loads acting on them during the milling operation.

A wear plate additionally protects the upper part of the toolholder from premature wear and tear. A clamping sleeve ensures optimum tool rotation, precise positioning, and a firm hold of the tool in the toolholder.

"Rotation" system

The R-series cutting tools of the "Rotation" system are the latest innovation in the field of cutting technology. New materials and enhanced shape designs, as well as a specially coated clamping sleeve permit maximum milling performance at minimum wear and tear, scoring top marks in terms of economic efficiency. Extremely simple tool insertion and extraction reduces stoppages for cutting tool replacement, and increases productivity.

Please consult Parts and More for application recommendations on the different tool types in our current tool program, and for the full range of milling drums and cutting tools available for road milling machines, cold recyclers, soil stabilizers and surface miners.
