Cold milling machine W 120 F / W 120 Fi

Powerful cold milling machine with a milling width of 1.20 m, particularly suitable for rehabilitating large surfaces or for removing asphalt layers at full depth. The milled material is loaded via the two-stage front loading conveyor. Hydraulically folding support wheel as a standard feature. The machine can be equipped with either wheels or crawler tracks.

High quality turns economical with Wirtgen cutting technology

Numerous different milling drums are available for the W 120 F, equipped with different toolholder systems. Our delivery range additionally includes a large choice of cutting tools, enabling you to find the ideal tool for any given application and for completing your projects profitably and in top quality.

Flexible Cutter System increases economic efficiency

The Flexible Cutter System or simply FCS enables milling drums to be changed quickly and easily. These cold milling machines provide access to the milling drum from the side, enabling it to be removed quite easily. The drum to be replaced is deposited on a mounting carriage and can then be pulled from the drum housing effortlessly. Mounting of the new drum in the housing is just as simple. When installing a milling drum of different milling width, the scraper blade is also modified accordingly.

Being able to convert his cold milling machine in such a short time enables the owner to use one machine for various types of work. A large variety of FCS drums with different working widths and tool spacings are available for the W 120 F. No more than 2 to 3 hours are needed to change the milling drum, converting the cold milling machine from standard milling to fine milling.

FCS greatly increases the machine's flexibility, opening up many new fields of application and improving its economic efficiency.

Mature toolholder systems for the milling drums in the cold milling machine W 120 F

HT11

Quick-change toolholder systems consist of a bottom part that is rigidly welded onto the drum body and an upper part fastened to the bottom part by a retaining bolt. The upper parts accommodate cutting tools that rotate freely in the tool shaft during the milling operation.

Hallmarks of the HT11 quick-change toolholder system include:

  • Optimum cutting tool rotation
  • Additional cooling of the tools due to the toolholder shape
  • Fast and simple tool extraction
  • Extremely low wear and tear
  • Wear markers for monitoring the state of wear of the upper parts
  • Large retaining bolts to ensure a perfect fit of the tools in the toolholders

HT5

HT5 is a toolholder system for fine milling drums. The one-piece, special toolholders are rigidly welded onto the drum body. They also accommodate standard cutting tools with a shaft diameter of 20 mm. Their special design enables them to be positioned very close to one another, offering an extremely narrow tool spacing.

Please consult our website Parts and More for additional information on these and any other Wirtgen toolholder systems.

Wirtgen point-attack cutting tools - Top performance in each single tool

Using cutting tools of superior quality, which are specially adapted to both the operation and the machine, top production rates at low tool wear and tear can be achieved. The tips of point-attack tools are subject to tremendous loads, and are therefore made from particularly wear-resistant carbide metal.

The steel body enclosing the tool tip is divided into two zones: The tool head is particularly hard and highly wear-resistant, while the shaft is tougher and more break-resistant. Their special shape, materials used and different degrees of hardness enable the cutting tools to absorb the shear stresses and impact loads acting on them.

A wear plate additionally protects the upper part of the toolholder from premature wear and tear. The clamping sleeve ensures optimum tool rotation, precise positioning, and a firm hold of the tool in the toolholder.

Please consult Parts and More for the full range of cutting tools available for road milling machines, cold recyclers, soil stabilizers and surface miners. Detailed information about our Wirtgen point-attack cutting tools can be found in the brochure "Parts and More Compact: Picks".
